In the 1960s, a brand new teacher training qualification was created at IH London. It was the first of its kind, combining in-class practice with theoretical learning to prepare teachers for English foreign language classrooms. Over time, the qualification evolved, and is now known as the CELTA. Today, a lot has changed, but the premise of developing teacher’s skills and abilities through a combination of theoretical and practical training has stood the test of time. Thanks to technology, as well as our ever-developing school, we are now able to offer more ways to take your CELTA than ever. We have designed our courses around our students to allow the freedom to train as a teacher, develop your skills, and transform your career in a way which suits you. In this blog we’ll be taking a look at the different ways you can study the CELTA where it was created, at IH London.

Face-to-face CELTA
Full Time
The full time course takes only 4 weeks. It is an intensive course for those looking to qualify quickly. The full time face-to-face course is perfect for those who want to gain experience in the classroom, are based in London or able to spend a month here, and want to begin their CELTA adventure as soon as possible.
Part Time
The part time CELTA takes 13 weeks to complete, with classes for 6 hours a week, and 7 Saturdays throughout the length of the course. It is perfect for those who want to gain in classroom experience, and are based in London but want the CELTA course to fit around other commitments.

Online CELTA
The online CELTA allows people from all across the globe to benefit from teacher training with IH London’s expertise.
Full Time
Only taking 4 weeks, the online full time course consists of regular classes with IH London trainers, as well as teaching online lessons. This is great for those studying remotely, or trainees who hope to work online when qualified, although the course is designed to be just as relevant for those who will be teaching face-to-face classes. It is a great way to gain your qualification quickly and easily, wherever you are.
Part Time
The part time online course takes 13 weeks to complete, and due to its remote nature and only 10-15 hours of classes a week, is great for those who have other commitments and would like to study from home, anywhere in the world. With online courses students gain the exact same CELTA qualification as with face-to-face courses.
There’s a huge range of start dates available, meaning there’s something for everyone available. For more information visit our CELTA webpage.
